Humps and dips like that (second pix) will cause random decoupling if you are using Kadee couples.

I assume you mean the #58 "scale" couplers. I run on a modular layout, that makes those humps and dips look positively flat! As long as the #5s are at the correct (and equal) heights, I have no problems with decoupling.

I'm sorry Pete, it had been my personal experience that rough track causes ramdon decoupling on my layout and that massaging my track to eliminate such dips fixed the problem. So I guess it was something else causing the decoupling. So sorry. Fred
