MDC Shay - Coal Burner?

Hi again

As mentioned in another thread, my MDC Shay kit arrived today. I have read that there were some coal burning Shays in existence and that is what I want for my road. Can anyone tell me what changes would need to be made to show my Shay as a coal burner...

Hi,

to get a coal-burner, remove the oiltank or fire wood an replace it with coal load.
By using coal, you will have less sparks, so you can use a straight smokestack.
