I have one of these, installed in a Mikado tender. These were manuf. for use w/a nine volt battery. Previous owner made wiring changes to change to track voltage. I trust this worked, as it is neatly done, although the three wires and their attachment to the leaf switch contact is not as the factory did it. The wires(colors), and posts/contact points, do not match a factory unit. The speaker reacts to current, but the chuff sound cannot be produced at any voltage up to 12v, no matter where the new "tab"(the conversion wiring) is connected to. It looks to me as though this "tab" was meant to contact the motor wire, at the tender draft gear.
While this "sound" isn't much, it's better than nothing.
Does anyone have an opinion of how to repair/replace this unit? Is there a comparable brand/board made? Price?
Thanks:)
