    Swingarm and gantry #4 installed

Last night I was able to build and install swing arm #4,

Tonight I drew out the corresponding gantry...this one is a twisting and turning mess but turned out ok.

It's all installed (before the bracing was installed) now time to move onto #5!

    Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for the kind remarks!

Wayne, yup everything has been printed out on regular 8 1/2 x 11 card stock. I am careful to make sure I organize the joints so they fall on an area that will be hidden or part of "the image" has a line which will conceal it somewhat. My joints are all butt joints (no overlapping), again to minimize their visibility. On long pieces like the main vertical girders, swingarm support girder, and receiver girder, I just tried my best to make a nice clean, tight joint. Some are noticeable but after all the piping and extras get installed there will be too much to look at to even see the joints.....I hope.

    Regards,
    George

    Up to Swing Arm #6

    Hey Guys,

Swing arms #5 and #6 are installed (details still need to be attached) as well as Gantry #5. Gantry #6 is exactly the same so it should go in quickly.

I replaced all the gantry support brackets with more scale looking "L" shaped ones. Swing arm receivers and shock absorbers have also been installed. I'll post photos of all this stuff tomorrow.

    LUT Small Details

Here are a few photos of the smaller details I've added. They include the Gantry support brackets (piping will run through these) and Swing Arm shock absorbers.

    End of swingarm installation

    Hey Guy's,

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been busy the last few days. All Swing arms are installed as well as one of the power carrier array's (PCA's). I hope to have the remaining gantries (3) installed today. They are not too complex so it should be a smooth install.

    This is the current status.

    Swing Arm #9 Details

    Hey Guys,

Swing arm #9 has turned into a bit of an engineering challenge. To give you a bit of background on this. When swing arm #9 retracted, it moved over the gantry, so the gantry was designed to collapse flat enabling the swing arm to fully retract. Here's a WIP photo of the what I have partially came up with.

    More small details

    Hey Guys,

Photo update time! Here's a photo of Gantry #9 Side 3 showing the EES support bracket and platform area. The upper left of the photo shows part of the scratch built swing arm #9 support structure.

Top view of the same area. Two more pieces of railing still need to be fitted and attached.

Here a cool little known detail I added, at the time it was seen only by a select few...sorry it's hard to read in the photo.

    A Few updates

I've only had time to add a few things to the LUT since my last update. The camera platforms have been installed (no camera or lights yet) and I added a few details to the elevator shaft at each levels door location. I printed out the Emergency Egress Map which was installed at the elevator doors plus I added a graphic to simulate the elevator buttons....I think I've lost my mind.

My research continues on the correct routing of all the piping.

    MLP Update

    Hey guys,

I've rebuilt the MLP and added ribbing and folded out an "edge" at the bottom, I didn't like the way it was just flat all the way down to the bottom. I also edited out all the pipe images from the sides and started applying "real" pipe.

I test fitted one of the legs (from Greelts MLP). Although it was enlarged, I thought it was too small (photo 1) so a larger version was made (Photo 2). One more correction still needs to be made to the railings.

I had to fabricate an offset (photo 3) because the main leg support tube was installed on the inside corner of the MLP, while the legs actually connect at the corner further out. A layer of fiberglass will be applied to the offset to add necessary strength. Eventually the legs will be mounted to a painted piece of wood to simulate part of PAD 39. The legs will be removable in case it is to be displayed with a Crawler.

    George

    MLP Update

    Hey guys,

Corrections have been made to the MLP legs. Larger diameter, correct size service platform and correct spacing for the railings. All have now been installed.
