The last model I´m going to build before I´ll get back to my Atlantis is the classic from ABC ...I love this model , because I have a lot of memories about it from my childhood  After my realistic module , I´m going to build this without any "upgrade" or "realistic stuff" :-D Just as it is ...symple , but cute

ABC (SOK) Lunární Modul 1:50 Scale Model

    Hi wedge,

This looks like an interesting model - something for the keen collector or card model connoisseur or historian.

Have you seen the Betexa Lunárni Modul 1:24 scale model? Click on 'Technical Models' and 'space technology' below and you will find it is the first of the two space models available from Betexa. The other is the well-known 'Raketoplán Atlantis' 1:72 scale space shuttle model, from which Raimondo Fortezza´s MARSCENTER 1:100 scale shuttle models are derived.

    All the best from Stockholm,
    Bengt :thumb:

    Hi bengt
Of course I have the LM from betexa (twice :-D ) ,but I don´t like it as much as I like the one from ABC (later from Albatros)...it is the same construction only with ugly textures , bad-looking astronauts and primitive LRV :)

The most beautiful release was the one rfom Albatros with very nice hand draw and paint (1979) (which I have only once :-D )

ABC (SOK) Lunární Modul 1:50 Scale Model

    Hi wedge,

It is simple and elegant and looks much better, IMHO, than the equally simple Gulf LEM model, which is available, photographed from the original sheet, as a free download from Jon Leslie´s site: http://jleslie48.com/gallery_models_real.html#m31a

    Nice Moonscape diorama background, too!

This is a more elegant treatment of the LEM than the Gulf model, but I will always remember the badly built Gulf LEM I had next to me when Apollo 11 landed.
This model always brings that historic day back to me.

    Bengt,

Chesley Bonestell was THE premeir space artist of the 20th century. He did much of Willy Lee's books as well as Von Braun's artwork for his "Man in Space' series.

Dyna-Soar was simply stating that the moonscape shown in Wedge's photo was very reminiscent of Bonestell's work.

    Real Space artist Chesley Bonestell

    Thanks for the clarification, Mike,

I see now. The background is painted in 'Chesley Bonestell-style'. I thought that perhaps the unusual name itself was some kind of travesty, joke or pun.
    Much obliged.

You learn something new every day in this forum. That´s great!

    Nice work, wedge,

The ascent stage of this model seems to be much more accurate than the Gulf LEM, for example. There is an unusual an very effective coloring to it, probably meant to give the impression of reflections of the black sky above the Moon or the deep shadows we know so well from the photos.

The elegant simplicity of this vintage model is very appealing. Thanks for sharing the fine close-ups.

    Wedge,

This is a lovely little model - I can see why you like it. I love the way the insides of the disc-shaped antennas are shaded in the upper half, to create a three-dimensional appearance.
Looking forward to seeing the descent stage come to shape now.

    Looking good, wedge,

You´ve almost got the whole set finished now. Are you going to display them in the pre-Lunar landing 'hard-docked' mode, or side-by-side?

    All the best,
    Bengt :thumb:

PS. Looking forward to seeing your continued build of the Raketoplán Atlantis shuttle model.
