LL GP 38-2 and MTL couplers

Hi, got my two LL GP 38-2 loks from e-bay last week.
They run smooth and quit and seemed to mach well together after 1 hour testrun.Coupled they take a 4% grade without any hesitation pulling 8 Atlas Kaolin tankers.
Last night I tryed to instal MTL 1128 couplers on one of these, lost one spring, damaged one thingie and coupler not installed yet after 2 hours.Got almost a nervous breakdown.
Suggestions please....

Sorry, I've never tried to put MT is a LL loco yet, but I do have some GP20's that I have to switch over soon, so I'll watch this thread for how to's!

SD90, the GP20 is a peace of cake, I have one and the change is done in one minute.
Pull out the retainer, release the old coupler,discard the cupper (plate, spring?), put in MTL1015-1 and reinstall the retainer,maybe you need to correct the height with a spacer(included in set).
As I told a piece of cake.
