Lippisch P.13a (Luft46)

Here's my take on the Lippisch P.13a.
The design was based mainly on the 3-views I got from www.luft46.com.

I used Metaseq, Pepakura and Inkscape.

Here's how the test build looks so far (scale = 1:48 )

I'm still having trouble estimating the size for the internal formers/bulkhead. Once I get that right, I'll start adding color/camo...

Thanks!

Anyway, I finally ironed out that nasty problem I had with the main fuselage's formers.
I tried something different but it turned out pretty well.

Here's the entire build process:

picture.php

Instead of going with the traditional formers for the fuselage, I opted for this accordion like structure. My goal is to make it act like a kind of a spring to keep the fuselage from collapsing and at the same time, make it easier to assemble the two parts of the fuselage together.

First half assembled....

picture.php

And hey!! It works! Hahaha...

picture.php

Now to assemble the wings. Wings come with simple formers.

picture.php

No problems here. :)

picture.php

The rudder / cockpit goes next.

Done!

Here's how the model looks when the wings are attached to the fuselage.
Notice that there's a small portion of the wing former sticking out... I'll fix that by clipping out a small portion from the front of the wing former in my Meta / Pepakura files.

Rudder / Cockpit attached!

Here are the remaining parts -- the intake and the skid.

picture.php

Attach the intake first....

The skid goes last.

I got a lot of extra details on the model after buying an e-copy of the Reichdreams Dossier #18. Fascinating stuff.

I'm off to add some camo for this now.

I'll put it up in the download section once the camo is done.

Camo done!

I chose the insignias for JG52, with matching Defense of the Reich bands.

Test build will have to wait till this weekend though....
If anybody is willing to do a test build, just PM me.

I thought the P13a would be incomplete without its own trolley... so I hastily whipped up this one. I tried to keep it as simple as possible to avoid fit problems.

Some minor adjustments in the Pepakura tab sizes are in order... after that I'll put this in the downloads section.

Sent to the downloads section and waiting for admin approval. :)

By the way, I can't seem to add thumbnail pictures to the model. The add picture button keeps complaining that the filename extension is invalid. I've tried JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG and even no extension. Has anybody been able to upload pictures of their stuff in the downloads section?

Hi David,
I just did a test download from Zealot and I can open the Zip without problems.
I used 7-zip to make the archive, but I tested it on Windows' native ZIP explorer.

I can email you an uncompressed (PDO) version of the file directly if you like?
