One other thot on constant lighting for cabeese is to rig up some kinda voltage regulator to charge a nicad, and run the LEDs off the nicad. A switch of some sort should be used to prevent "over-discharging" the nicad to the point where it swaps polarity and renders it useless. The idea is, once it's turned on, the lights stay on all the time, regardless of track voltage.

I found that Jameco carries them here. A search on the Radio Shack website showed nothing...
Jon, I think I have a circuit diagram somewhere for using a rechargeable battery as you mentioned; I'll have to dig it out and draw it up so it can be posted here.
