there use to be some amde by some the toy model scale trains companies but they were not very good models.
you could try adding metal axles, and metal wheels to the trucks and putting in your lights to the cars and then using pickup arms to power the lights much like the toy cabooses were wired

If I were a big fan of lighting effects for model railroads, I'd go with LEDs and a couple of those "pancake-style" batteries like those used in the Rapido passenger cars. You could put an on/off switch on the underbody, or even modify the smokejack to act as a switch. No more flickering lights, either, the biggest factor in destroying the illusion. ;) Use LEDs that emit the softer "golden" light.
