    Hi friends,

today I want to present you my new project.
The kit fits very well, all visible gaps are because of my disability.

    The hull:

    the ships sides,...........

    the first ladders............

In this kit I use etched parts from GPM and metal barrels.

Please, please tell me how you made that red bottom look so good. I'm tearing my hair out trying to get my Pennsylvania hull to look half that good!wall1 I should thank you, however. Seeing your build has forced me to decide what to do with my hull....START OVER! Going to build some rockets first to help me chill out. Lovely first steps.:mrgreen:

    thank´s a lot............

    Hi folks,

O.K. I see, you want more............here it is:

first I want to show you how I made the windows........

cut out the frames an glue it on the "window" of an window envelop
    [IMG]

    and assembled
    [IMG]

    after that I built "Anton"

and just a few minutes befor, the first funnels base
    [IMG]

@Jasco: that´s teh color I use, it´s a sort of antirust color (resin based) it´s a bit voscous and so it fills small gaps. In this wet paint I make some lines with the lighter red alkyd color.........

If you work exactly it´s not necessary to make more. The hull is not primed and grinded.............

The fit of that kit is unbelievable, I only can approve it to everyone !!

Another excellent build! And that hull looks great - especially knowing it's just painted paper with no filling / sanding!

Thanks for the tip, Flu. I still think I'm going to start over, but you gave me something to shoot for. Do you glue every hull plate along all 4 edges? I ask because it seems that I run into a lot of problems with ridges and bulges where the glue has deformed the paper at those spots. Good looking boat!

    ridges and bulges

    Hi Jasco,

your problems with ridges and bulges sound like using a glue with water as a solvent (like white glue). For bigger areas such a glue isn´t good to use.
Try a glue with other solvent ( in germany/europe we use UHU, I don´t know the equal product in the US , perhaps some know the equal glue.

I use the UHU glue as follows:

apply the glue (thin) at both parts (the hull part and the glue strip on the former). Let it try a short time and then put the parts together. If you need time to adjust/align the parts (depends on the complexity of the shape.....) shorten the drying time or apply the glue a bit thicker.

A good design of the hull parts is required..........in case of further questions................-ask................

I hope my "broken english" comments are helpful to you :oops::mrgreen:

May I add my favorable comments to those above. Your model is coming along very nicely. Like Darthpineapple, I was impressed with your stairs & railings.

Great job on those guns - and you must not be as clumsy as me. There's no way with all the other structure that needs to go on the ship that I could install those guns at this point. They wouldn't survive me adding other things without being knocked around and probably bent up.

Beautiful guns, Flu! Yes your advice has been very helpful to me. I use UHU as well as Elmer's, but I often have the same result as with Elmer's. I didn't realize you could glue both parts and have it stick. My hull continues to sit above the fireplace and glare at me. Grrrr!

Wow Flu. Those are some nice guns.

Very neat and clean. I've always liked brass barrels. They're a nice touch to any model.
