Hi,

I am thinking about my layout plan and I thought about something. I will have an elevated track for my subway layout and would like to make my train going under the ground level. My layout is 5x8 and I wonder if these HO subway kit (3 unpowered cars and 1 powered) has enough power to climb from 3'' under the table to 4.5'' on the elevated plateforme, so a climbing of 7.5'' in about 4' long (on the 8' side but I have to calculate 2' on each side for the curve)?
What do you think of that?
Thanks
Pat

7.5 inches of climb over 48 inches of horizontal travel is a 15% grade. Considering that 4% grade (4 inches of rise over 100 inches of horizontal travel) is about as much as most HO locomotives can handle, 15% is just way too steep.

Your original idea of keeping the track level but varying the terrain around it is a better idea.

Hope this helps!
