Lashing

I see alot of lashing going on, especially with the rear loco in reverse as in real life. Question is, Whats the best way to lash two locos together and get them to run together? I figure the only way to do it right is to program (DCC) the locos to the same channel. Am I far off?

The best way is to have two or more identical or at least the same manufacturer. I run 2 P2K E8/9s and 2 Athearn C44-9Ws together with no problems, even though one loco in each pair is slightly slower than the other. I use a separate channel for each one as well, so that I can operate the lighting effects, such as the MARS light on my P2Ks, as needed.
