I built Lars' 1/96 scale Vostok beginning on February 10 and finished a few days ago. Because I build slowly and sporadically, I waited til it was completed to upload build photos. Here's the beginning with the tubes rolled and glued. Pardon the messy bench.

Interstage girder complete. It was soaked in CA before rolling for added strength.

Main stack and nose cone ready to be mated. More pictures will be uploaded after I get them from my daughter's camera.

Finished! Look for Yuri Gagarin "posing" next to the launch vehicle.

Great model!!! Those Russian rockets always looked like something out of a science fiction movie to me. It's fascinating to see the differences in the hardware that the U.S. and Russia came up with to accomplish the same task of putting a man into earth orbit. I'd like to see this one and the Mercury/Atlas side-by-side. Thanks for the pix!

I plan to build the Sputnik R-7 launcher in time for the 50th anniversary, October 4, 2007. I love the fact that this launch vehicle is still in production, upgraded and still used today. It's as if Chevrolet continued to make '57 Chevy's for 50 years!

Awesome build! This is one great looking model! Pictures did bring out what a great job you did on this - obviously have found a strength!!! This looks so cool, I may have to break down and build a rocket one of these days!!
