I don't blame you for being upset. Don't worry about modeling until you're house is sorted, that is way more important. I for one appreciate the hour (or more) that you spend on this forum every day, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thank you. :Bravo:

I really like this forum, I like the members a lot. We have the nicest group of people on any forum I've ever seen.

I also made major progress on my roof today, my son and brother in law (and best friend) helping me out a lot. I am going with a steel roof on the part of the house that was damaged, and when the time comes, I'll do the rest of the house with the same steel from the same company. 45 year warranty, 75 year expected lifespan!! :)

Good luck with the repairs, at least you have help.

Thought you'd all be interested in some pictures of a RR Dawn. Our convertible model.

The Dawn is my favorite Rolls Royce. That care just exudes class, style, but without being pretentious. It's understated beauty will stand the test of time.

It is indeed a lovely car. I had the opportunity to bring one home for the weekend in November 2016. If you ever get the chance to have a ride in one.... take it!

Lucky for you @zathros I have a dawn model too and was considering doing it next. That is if the wraith turns out ok. :)

You have got to be kidding! I saw a show here that showed the Dawn being made, and the final one was a beautiful Yellow, and I normally despise Yellow cars, but this car was perfect in every respect. Build it, no matter how the present one comes out!! I'd love to see an excellent model of the beauty! :)

How about once it is done, I'll give you a copy of the templates so you can build one for yourself? And I'll do it in your favourite paint colours. :):)

Here is a pic of the one I had with my mother in law sitting in it.

Hi xaero, your work is simply breath-taking. I agree with zathros' advice regarding the test build. Choosing a trustworthy member and send him the parts in question via email is the best thing to do. It is the same way @Rhaven Blaack and I do our tests. I send him the parts, he sends me picturs and makes notes and additions if necessary. Then he asks me to make some fancy cockpit interior (which I politely decline because I'm quite a lazy guy ;) ), squeezes my thumbs till I agree and then have me make some additional night shifts to get everything done. :D ;) That takes place completely "behind the curtains". The model is released once everything has been tested and green-lit by the two of us. :) However, as Zathros said, once the model is released it cannot be restrained any more. If you are making such a fantastic and unique piece, a true labour of love and dedication, you can bet on it that it will pop up on ebay and so on.

@Revell-Fan you and @zathros both make excellent points.

Upon completion I'll probably only release it to those I feel are trustworthy and capable of building it. I will also ask advice from the forum mods and admins about who those people are.

Still a long way to go yet so let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, although your advice is definately welcome.

Also, my daughter in the back of an RR Ghost last month.

She was amazed at the tv screens in the seats.

I'm thinking of painting all the chromework as I've found a pot of chrome paint for modeling that doesn't cost much. The silver card I've found seems a bit too thick. It's not a bad back-up idea though.
Thanks. :)

I'm also trying to work out a way to drop the SoE into the grille, this is part of the reason for the test build.

I was going to suggest Scotch 3m brand 3M 850 Silver Polyester 66m x 50mm Corner & Edging Tape for ductwork.. but a quick check in the UK and it is (((( ACKKKKK )))) first website I found Price Each£61.57 (exc. VAT) ((( ACKKKK )))

I have some and it works GREAT!! ((but UK price...no way!!)) as it is so thin you don't know it is on the card stock, printed on the reverse side and you are good to go! Another place has this https://www.berylune.co.uk/products/set-of-3-metallic-tape for £3.95 which is Scotch Expressions Washi Tape which would also work! You should be able to pick up a single roll for silver cheaper!
Testors makes a good Chrome Silver for plastic kits, and it would work with some careful painting...

That Testors paint sounds like a good idea. ;)

I had a word with my boss at work tonight and I have some good news.
He is allowing me to have some metallic twilight purple paint next time a batch is mixed. This means I can have the official Rolls-Royce colour on the model.

This is quite an honour as they don't usually allow this sort of thing.

To say I'm pleased would be an understatement!

Now that is very trusting!! You daughter is so cute!! I have an 18 year old son. I always wish we could have had a daughter too, but it didn't work out. Get the shotgun now, you're going to need it to chase "them" off! :)

Thank you! It's ok, she has an older sister and 2 older brothers. She's well protected.

I have printed the SoE and grille. She looks a little small and fiddly. If this doesn't work I may have to resort to something else.

I have lightened the cut and fold lines since the bonnet test, hopefully it'll look better.

I like you have a nice sized family. I spent 2.5 months in England back in 1974. I am told that England no longer exist. I hope parts are left, but I do have a special feeling for England, I always have, and when i got the scholarship to go there, it was a dream come true. Fish 'n Chips were 14p back then, served up in Rolls up newspaper. I am hoping for an even closer relationship with England after Brexit, either way, actually, we have too much in common, and our differences make us stronger. :)
