And now on this episode of the Lunch time modeler:

The Kurgan, No compound curves, no tricky matchups.

Nice little model so far. It's Millenium Falsehood's pdo Kurgan. This is a three page model. Day one, page one. I like the textures, the pieces are very blocky, so it's a quick build.

    the parts:

I printed the model on HP Cardstock on an HP Color Laserjet 5550n. After scoreing and cutting I colored all edges with a prismacolor Dark Umber fine point marker to prevent the "paper look" of white corners.

I've only run into one problem so far:

The very ends of these "pontoons" fold up. At first I thinght that the angled bits were too short, but no, I had just been off by a millimeter on my score line which makes this a little tricky of a piece to assemble.

And now after 47minutes here is the first day's progress:

Good work so far! The Kurgen is one of my favorites(the others being the Predator, Shroud, Basilisk, and Reliant). I just wish the mesh had the turrets, but they are apparently seperate objects, to allow them to rotate in the game.

    New update today.

Sorry about the delay. I managed to make some progress on this model. It is still going together pretty smoothly.

Here are the senceond page pieces assembled:

I will say that the score lines are a little difficult to see on the large piece to the left, simply because the graphics on the model are very dark. Perhaps extended lines on the final version will help.

And here they are built into subassemblies:

And here is a piece from page three. The score lines are a little dificult to see on this piece as well, but with a little experimenting, I figured it out......I think.

And here is the Kurgan nearing completion:

Getting there. Millenium, are you going to develope instructions for the final version of the model?

The build has been pretty straight forward, and the 3D view in pepakura helps, but some of the distinctions between mountain and valley folds are diffcult to see. On a positive note, though, so far I have found your tab placement to be excellent, I have not found any conflicting placements.

Looking forward to building the Lagg next.

The only reason I'm waiting to make instructions is that I don't know what parts of the assembly need clarification and what parts can be left to builder's intuition(to coin a phrase).

I'm not sure how I would add score lines to the final piece. Maybe changing the line settings would work.

Cool, as far as clarification goes, I have only been a little confised by two pieces. They are the large ones on pages 2 and 3. Other than that, the model has been pretty straight forward. I think anybody with a few paper kits under their belt should have no problem with this kit.

    My Build of Kurgan

Friends to give a second opinion on the assembly of Kurgan, I waited for the topic to be concluded to present my notes.

I found the quite simple model of being done, even for the nature in their ways whole straight line. My only subjects are the same ones the too dark textures, and lines "hidden" away I am printed lines of folds.

Well we are going the pictures.

I chose in building all the components before, as the model only has three pages, big pieces and they don't arrive to twenty that artifice is possible of being done.

These are the pieces "most difficult" of be built, the part of the engines and one of the groups of the structures. I used in whole the project paper Filecoat 180G.

In these pictures we see the whole assembly sequence didn't find any fitting problem is a very good model for beginners...

The model already concluded with his pedestal, the only thing that the was made more went to hide edges and white parts with pencil and black acrylic paint. Little by little my collection Starlancer is going increasing...

Well it would be that excuse for the long post, the next model that I should begin is Shroud, the hunt of the layer of the game (in the Brazilian edition, I don't know in the other ones.), that it is a much more complex and delicate model.

P.S. They are lacking the towers of the cannons, I hope in the final file they come will give more amusement and a more attractive aspect to the model.

Hey, nice buildup gomidefilho! I think you took your time more than I did. It looks better than my build. I did finish this kit. The only thing I think I would change is turning the Exhaust thrusters 180 degrees to hide the glueing seam. Other that that, it looks great!

by the way, was it you who posted teh cylon ship in the other thread? If so, thanks!

Nice build-up Gomidefilho! I probably should put a note on the page somewhere, but your engine nozzels should be concave. I thought that might be a problem, but I forgot to put in a notation.

Also, the original file didn't come with any turrets, and I can't find them in the game files. I'll have to see if Gearz can help me locate them, if he doesn't mind. None of the other capships had them either.

Yeah, I built the thrusters convext as well. They still look ok that way, I'm happy with the model. Millenium F, are you going to submit these models to the download section of this site?

After I get the instructions finished. Thanks for the reviews! I'll get to work on the instructions.
