Kato-new Heavy Mikado

I have one of the new Mikados and it is a very nice runner indeed! Very slow starting speed with little voltage required. Quiet and no binds or kinks in the mechanism. The only downside is that it isn't a very strong puller. However, you can buy the traction tire conversion kit to improve that considerably. The Mikado has become the new standard for N-scale steam locos. Hard to beat this one!
Pulling Power
I agree BDC. I was only able to pull 4 cars up a steep grade.After adding the traction tires I was able to pull 10 cars [ thats all I have right now].

That's a great shot, mrgooch! I love that angle. How did you do that? Is that area located near the edge of the layout?

It is near the edge but I had to lower the camera into the stream area and use the LCD screen to position the shot. The problem using the LCD screen is you can't tell if it is in focus[ close-up ].
