Is this a sad story?

Canada - USA

First off, a belated happy Canada Day to our Canadian railroaders. And, a happy July 4th to our American railroaders.

I must agree that I don't find much to buy at retail stores anymore. I model a specific period in time and that is the 1940s and 1950s. I was young then and had fond memories of steam and electric, and diesels of that period, not to mention name passenger trains and cabooses at the end of every freight train. Much of what I see at retail stores are newer than the period I model.

Instead, I shop at all of the train swap meets that I can manage to visit. Since I have a home in Canada and one in the USA, I make a point of visiting swap meets in both countries. Here is what I have found at swap meets:
1. Models and kits that have not been seen in retail shelves in years.
2. Prices more in tune with what I am willing to pay.
3. You can buy Canadian trains dirt cheap in USA swap meets.
4. You can buy American trains dirt cheap in Canada swap meets.
