It’s Official the National IPMS National Model Contest will have a paper model category with in every class of models. The following is a quote from the 2007 national contest web sites “In addition to the Special Themed Awards, we will be having a special category for paper models within each Class. These will be separate categories so the paper will not be judged against the plastic, but will utilize the same basic criteria outlined in the IPMS/USA Competition Handbook. Bob Penikas has volunteered to be the Lead Paper Model Judge for this year.” Bob is a member of this forum and is one of the people that have campaigned for the National IPMS to consider allowing paper models into the national contest.

The contest will be held at the Anaheim Marriott Resort Hotel starting on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007 and going through Saturday, August 25th, 2007
This is the first opportunity for paper modelers to display the quality and workman ship of our models on the national level. It would be a shame if we were unable to put up a good showing. So I am urging all of the US modelers to seriously consider entering the contest. You will need to become a member of IPMS national to enter your models. The membership includes a bimonthly modeling magazine that is quite good and well worth the membership. You could always tell the wife and Kids that you just want to go to Disneyland and drop off a couple of models. Considering the number of categories the probability of taking home a trophy is very good.

Sponsorships for the Paper model categories are also available perhaps the forum would like to sponsor a category?

Several of the prominent Paper modelers in Southern California will have a display area to introduce plastic modelers to paper and we would welcome you if you would like to help out.
