Tonight I had a raptus: I bought on ebay the new crawler scale 1 / 96 (I had already bought the LUT). Then I thought that I don't have enough space and that Alfonso has done a wonderful crawlers (1/144) and Jonathan has on its website the beautiful Saturn V / LUT by Mike B (1/480).
So I thought why not to reduce the Alfonso's crawler at 1/480 and try to see if I can build it?

Here some picture of this test.

The MLP is a fast build to verify the correct scale

    Two times insanity: wall1
the first one the purchase of LUT & Crawler at 1/96
the second one to start this test and now to be forced to continue this challenging build.

    It's enough for tonight.

    Nando,

Wow, you beat me to the punch! I'm the Mike B who designed the Mobile Launcher on Jon's site, and had been contimplating doing exactly what you're doing, but hadn't yet found/made the time.

I can't wait until you finish so I can see what my version will look like! :)

    This night

Thank You guys for Your encouragements.
I need them to go ahead in this project.

    I did some progress.

First I verified how to make the drive guides and pillars (I can't do everithing whit paper !)

Then I did the corner "A"

Then I started the first "truck"

    It's very small wall1

    It's enough for tonight....

I'm trying to follow the Alfonso's istructions and to build every detail of the bigger model: I don't know how far I can go ....
... but each truck itself is a complex model wall1

    Good Night, Friends

    First Truck Completed !

Tonigh I completed the first truck

    londonbluemisty,
i didn't use a human hair for the engines, but they are very small (around 1,5 mm), as you can see in this enhanced picture (I used my additional glasses).

The steering cylinders are smaller: I posted a toothpick near them to allow a better dimensional comparison

..and here some picture of the truck completed

And then I have to complete the other three,

    AAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH !!!! wall1wall1wall1

I have to do for each truck
    1 body
    2 caterpillar
    3 steering harm
    4 engines
    4 steering cylinders
    ....
A grand total of near 40 parts that I have to cut, to form, to glue, to assemble ..... for each of the remaining trucks. wall1

But that is why we love this hobby ...:thumb:

How did you make those cylinders?

    Nando,

Fabulous work. I love watching these "micro" builds, and you are doing a fabulous job.
