Hey all, I'm looking to purchase a Atlas Dash 8-40c. I can't find any info on it. Like what kind of motor, does it have a flywheel, and is it 6 wheel drive. I looked on Atlas' web site and a couple others, couldn't find anything. Is anyone farmiliar with this engine?

I don't model that era, but I've never seen an Atlas engine in ho that didn't come with a can motor and an excellent drive. They used to use Kato drives, but I think the production schedules at Kato may have been too restrictive, so now they use a drive from Europe.

here is some info i found from atlas -Realistic die-cast underframe
-Factory-equipped with AccuMate knuckle couplers
-Coupler pocket designed to accept AccuMate Proto-couplers
-Realistic die-cast underframe

-Five-pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels for optimum performance at all speeds
-Separately-installed scale windshield wipers, metal grab irons and fine scale handrails
-Directional lighting
-Painted crew members
-Snowplow and
-Piping on trucks
-Recommended minimum radius: 22”

I picked up an Atlas Norfolk Southern 8-40C master gold series on Friday and all I can say is WOW.

It is so smooth you can hardly hear it running and the sound is awesome.
