I am looking for tarin yard plans for a 1' x 8' shelf layout. if it is possible i dont want a turntable

Check out www.carendt.com and check under Shelf Switchers. Most are less than 8 feet wide but they are very stubby--they can easily be stretched out to 8 feet with no trouble. If you're not going to include a turntable, make sure your motive power can operate in both directions--but just about any small diesel switcher would do.
