HMAS Vendetta 1/200

I originally designed the hull and main superstructure for Nick as building bricks then I got carried away and decided to do one for myself, apologies to Nick for B gun deck and and the funnel house I am still messing about trying to get it right. Hopefully the next build will be ok.

The hull is just a scaled down version of Nick's and this is about as far as I have got with the build.

The bridge is a bit complicated on the access ladders and is only getting there slowly.

OOOh, nice Barry.... you're going to be way ahead of me on this now, I hope you don't mind me using your thread for guidance as I continue my build.

She's gathered a bit of dust but i'm about ready to get back into it slowly with things finally settling down around here with the new job and a baby on the way. (I shouldn't say that cos every time I think things are settling down some new distraction pops up :D)

I'll be eagerly awaiting your next update, good luck with the rest of the build.

AA and main gun directors

Feel free Nick when I finished Tarawa I was going to do the Colossus class carrier but I felt a smaller model would be a nice change. As I had the the bare bones of Vendetta I thought I might as well do that one.

Not a lot of progress just the fire control for now the "dodgem cars" are the AA range finders.

General outline

The general outlines of Vendetta black lines need cleaning up but the fit is reasonable

Wow she's coming along very nicely there barry, and rather quickly too compared to my sluggish build. I need to get hold of some of those new parts from you, ie: superstructure with doors and portholes etc... I finished my Interceptor today so I have a bit of free space on the build table for now...

Propellors and twin bofors

The bit I always avoid for as long as posssible the shafts and props they are a lot more difficult to shape than the more modern blades on Spruance.

The bofors mounting is still a bit on the sparten side it could do with more detail. I have given up trying to roll tiny bell ends and used panel pins and copper wire for the barrels I think they look better than straight pieces of wire and they are a damn sight cheaper than brass barrels.

Edge colouring will have to wait for a steady hands day but I can start gluing things to the deck now.

Very nice work Barry. Glad to see you back at it after Tarawa. I agree, a smaller project is a nice change after a massive build.

The Vendetta is coming along nicely. It's interesting to see it in comparison to the Spruance. Really gives each ship a good reference for scale.

The bofors look better than you think. Really, barrels at that size are usually better left to an alternate material rather than paper. Like you said, they look more realistic.

Keep up the good work Barry!:thumb:

Just slowly adding more bits the canvas covers onhalf hoops are built up as 6 seperate sections. It's a lot easier than trying to form a half circle and more realistic.

Thanks Elb

Very nice Barry. Great work on the cage mast.

Looks like you've got a lot of your "favorite" past-time ahead of you... Handrail work!

She's coming together brilliantly my friend. Keep us updated...

Wow Barry, that is really coming together nicely, I wish I had the time to continue my build. Due to busy times at work and a new baby though, things are slow until winter sets back in over here, can't wait to pick up where I left off.

My email details have changed and I've lost yours, shoot me a PM if you're still around, I lost some of the files in a hard drive crash a few months back.

Once again, she's looking fantastic, I can't wait to get back to work on mine...

Nick.

Jaffro and Barry,

Are either of you considering releasing this model as a kit for others to purchase? I am certainly interested in one myself and I would seriously consider rescaling her to 144th.

Jaffro, I'm just up the Calder in Bendigo.

Cheers,
Roger Pearson.

Sorry I had a few things on but I looked at Vendetta and I have done nothing to turn it into a kit. I do intend to but it will be a while.
