Took the summer off from RR to work on my second love, ponding. I know it's not RR related, but I wanted you to see what else i'm into.
This is all hand dug, by me.

Ray that is some impressive work but be honest now that amount of work took you longer than a week to accomplish. If not your LPB have been helping out alot.

I was only working on the unfinished areas of the layout, not the whole layout. Have much more to do, will keep you posted with updated pictures. Remember, I am retired.

Interesting progress Ray. I particulary like the DC3 parked on the apron of the airport. I spent many hours flying around southern Africa in one of them when I was in the SAAF hauling freight mostly. I was a radio operater in those days. Had to give a position report every half hour.

    Hi Robin

    Your telling your age.
I flew many hours in one with a ser# of16. The door was on the right side. Good plane.

    Love Those Daks!

Although I'm just a comparative youngster, I remember having a ride or two on a "Dak". These were used as commuters from CFB Cold Lake to CFB Edmonton in the late seventies when we were posted in Cold Lake. What a great plane ride. They flew low and slow, and a kid with his nose stuck to the glass got a fantastic view all the way. Strangely enough, I'd look for trains. :D Once, we deplaned from the Dak, and boarded an RDC for the second leg of the trip to Calgary. Didn't get much better than that. The very last of these venerable birds was retired only a few years ago. Sadly, I never did get to jump from one.

These days, a "Dakota" seems to mean a nice pickup truck. :)

Ray, did you use hydro-cal for your mountains? It looks really good, and I'm almost ready to start making my mountains, after a trip to British Coulmbia!

There are still one or two of the DC3s (Dakotas) here in Toronto. They used to be owned by Millard air for freight or whatever. I know Field Aviation is still operating and they may have them still. I hear one flying over every so often and the sound they make is really unique. Now back to railroading.
