    Hi everyone;

    I have a fairly old Lionel Train set that was mom mom's from when she was a kid.

    They've just been sitting in boxes in the attic forever (literally decades).

    I finally took ownership of them a few years back and really want to get the set up and running for Christmas time.

    The train cars themselves are in really lovely condition as well at the Locomotive, but the tracks and the transformer look like they could use some TLC.

    I did try setting the track up last year, but couldn't get the trains moving at all.

    Can anyone point me in the direction of troubleshooting these and getting them running?

    My inclination is that it's the transformer and possibly a bad connection on the slightly rusted tracks, but I don't necessarily want to jump out and get a new transformer without any research into this.

    Your help is appreciated, you marvelous people!
