Okay, here is what I am up against presently. Here is everything for the Saturn V all printed out. Minus reprints of course. For this model my intentions will be at the end to suspend if from the ceiling with all the components separated. I will check the fits of the individual sections as I go just to make sure everything joins together nicely.

Also, check out the new cutting mat.

The links were really helpful, thanks Zathros. Lot of cool stuff also, there is a link to the new engine article in the first article.

I bet that certain parts of this, could be made from aluminum flashing, used for roofing. It would allow you to actually emboss the textures into the material, and with a good two part epoxy, you could end up with a very realistic looking engine. The plans are so good, that with careful fore though, and a tubing bender, you go could go bonkers and make youRself something you could ignite, albeit, only with propane, but that would be effective, especially if you put something that smokes in the combustion chamber. Just some mental wanking. ;)

That start of the engines is my favorite part, everything fits together so smoothly.

When putting the two cones together, make sure the seams are on opposing sides. When the thrust structure is built and the engines put on it will look better this way in my humble opinion.

Perhaps in the future, shrinking the injector plate by 1 or 2% would help save some of the edge detail. The edges always get cropped a bit when it's attached.

Just a heads up, when building the thrust chamber, after part A, the even letter parts are letter up B, D, F etc. The odd letters are letter down on C, E, G etc.

IMPRESSIVE! The design involving those "petals" is ingenious. :)

I totally agree with you. Most of this engine just fits together perfectly. There are only two places where I have difficulty but I'll get into that as the engine progresses. ;)

When building the thrust chamber it's good to keep the model as tight as possible and gaps or overlaps will be covered in the end. Part L might need some extra trimming to fit correctly.

When finishing the engine bell you will have to pressure fit the pieces so they stay nice and tight until the glue is dry.

Building the heat exchanger & turbine exhaust manifold. Once again, everything fits together really nicely.

These are my least favorite pieces and if you have the means I recommend cutting off the tabs and putting it together that way. With the tabs it gets a bit bulky and never looks right in my opinion. For this build though, I kept the tabs.

I think that is more the quality of the model than it is me.
