Guardians of the Galaxy - Quad Blaster (I)

Very cool film.
I wanted to have the blaster and finaly I found 2 versions for a paper model. Both .pdo files and both uncoloured. The first one (this build) is an more easy version with less details. The second one is more detailed and will be build later on.

As mentioned .pdo files without glueing tabs. As I like glueing tabs, because they make life more easy - at least for me - I created my own tabs.

This model consists of 8 pages. We will see how it comes out.

Here the start - page 1 and 2 cut and assambled:

If I remember right, this is my first .pdo-build. It is cool to see the final model and the position of the parts seperately.
What I am missing is an app to see the file also on a mobile or a tablet.

Looks Great starbuck! It would have been nice to see it colored to match the one in the movie. I don't know if I could do a complete white model of anything.

I am sure you are able to do a white model in the same way as a colored one. There is no difference in the process.

I will paint the blaster after all parts have been cut, but it is not so easy to get reference photos. Will see how it turns out.

Parts of 4. the grasp. - here I recommend either paper with 200g or more or to ad some stabilizers.
Unfortunately I did nothing. So I will see whether the painted grasp will be ok or if I will renew it.

Parts page 5 and 6 - also here no tricky parts - the challange is where to put the own glueing tabs;-)

Next step: colouring.

All in all a nice model - not so much details and not difficult.
I will see whether I can use details of the second version of the blaster to give this one a little more details.
But this I will do after the colouring.

Started with painting using "steel" and "standard grey" for the firs parts:

By looking at it I decided to replace standard grey with black. And I added some eyecatcher on each side.

Final summary after painting and assambling:

* Nice model not very detailed but OK for a first try.
* Unfortunately uncoloured - would like to see other builds with maybe different colours.
* STRONG RECOMMENDATION to use thicker paper or at least use some stabilizers for the big parts.
You can also see on the photos that some parts are not in shape. It happened during the painting and even
more during the drying phase where I used rubberbands for holding parts together.
* Size seems to be 1:1 - fits to my hands.
