i started this a while back and am still working on it. I used balsa wood for the center frame to help prevent warping.

Starting superstructure. Even though this is a BIG model but there are still small parts.

I think that it is the MS32/22d Camouflage, closest I could find.

This thing is so big that I can't really work on both sides at once so I am working down one side and then I will do the other. As I said I have been working on this for a few months and have been taking pictures. Am just now uploading what I have done so far. Started the bow and some guns and directors.

More pics, guns and bow, I made the 5" guns so that they can be rotated as well as the 16'. This is as far as I have gotten as of today.

I just love ship models. Back in my plastic period, I used to make several of them. In fact, I still got one half completed in the box.
Now this model is surely a feast for the eyes. Good solid work and nice details!

Working on the stern detail. There are some very small parts so I do some modifications. When it says to fold a part so that there is detail on both sides they never match so I cut both sides out and then glue together. When the two parts are too thick to shape I copy the parts and print on 20 lb paper and use that as the backing.

What a great job you're doing! Too bad you won't be able to put her in the water, because it looks so fantastically real...

Finished the screws for the Missouri. Outer a 4 blade and the inner a smaller 5 blade screw. Also more detail on stern.

That's just wonderful! I'm interested in trying to make accessories for my model ships someday.

I see you keep your stuff behind glass - I do that too not only to reduce dustiness but we have cats also. So what is the name of the "admiral"?
