say useing a 17 tooth pinon and a 44 or so spur gear this will give it more speed. When you use a larger pinon and a small spur gear your looking at higher speeds. Now if you were to go down to like a 12 or so pinon and a 50 tooth spur this will creat more torgue and even moveing just a few teeth will make a difference.

changing the pinion 1 tooth makes a much bigger difference than the spur gear 1 or even 3 teeth.you want more torque?go with a smaller pinion/clutch bell gear.experiment with that.if you find you have alot of torque but not much top end speed then raise the # of teeth on the pinion /clutch bell gear.

when you have a good running engine and a few different gears to experiment with,it can be very interesting and fun.
