Gapping Loco Wheels (in Atlas HO)

Hi all,

Here's a little mystery;

I gapped the wheelsets on my H16-44 as close to perfect as you can get. That was about six months ago. Now, after an unexpected derailment, I checked the gaps to find three of the four wheelsets were again too tight.

Gremlins?

Has anyone ever experienced the span between the wheels traveling with use?

Nope, never have. Any way you can put a drop of ca on em?

Yes,Several of mine did with prolong use..I put the wheels back in gauge and that was that..I suspect that is cause by the truck play that is cause by the wheels following the rails

This will be the second or third time I've had to do this on this one loco. The others are fine. I wonder if Atlas would give me new wheelsets for it?

I would contact Atlas and see if they would since yours is not staying gauge.There has to be a problem.
