Got started on megatron today so I thought I would start a thread to show progress. I think I'm going to go more an action figure look with this one as the original toy was just too skinny looking in my opinion, it will be very loosely based on the revoltech style megatron. Also with the size of the optimus model at 45cm. I figured if i'm going to make very many of these I should probably scale them down a bit, but what size would be ideal? 20cm? 30cm?

Thats a hard one, i think the scale is great for details, but I´'m thinking on a 50% scale printing, cause i don't have enough space in my apartment:p
A 20cm gets my vote.:thumb:
As a note I'm starting to play with sketch, It is great an easier than it thought, but theres a lot of things I still need to find out.

This is what's done for the day, I textured the grips and made the joints so that they can be positioned and glued into the desired pose. Hope to get the waist and main body done tomorrow.:thumb: So, as I'm always trying to plan ahead I was wondering who everyone thinks should be next.

oooooh! Shockwave it is! I always loved that guy, I had the toy as a kid but my sister got mad at me, held it up and snapped it in two right in front of my face.:curse:

His robot mode is made up of pretty basic shapes so this one should be pretty easy. If I can find good enough reference on this guy I will make him transformable!:thumb:

How about a G1 Starscream or Thundercracker ? A Galvatron or Unicron might be nice, too...

here is where I'm at with megatron this morning, just the head and barrel and a few other parts left to model then all that's left is texturing. Hopefully the size ratio from prime to megatron is right.

I might get into G2 models after I'm done with G1, so Galvatron is a possibility, Unicron I would def. like to do, but if he's gonna be in scale(which I don't think would be possible anyway, LOL) he would be HUGE!

Done for the day on this one. I ended up finding a head from a megatron model at google warehouse that I liked so I used it as reference, I modeled the one used in my megatron model though. As usual any and all criticism is welcome.

Little update here, test build almost done. I don't know about the barrel it seems a little large to me, I might scale it down a bit.

After this one I'm doing Shockwave (already got the basic shape done) then I was thinking of doing starscream, but I'll squeeze Quintesson in there sometime after those:thumb:
