The windows won't be installed until the proper parts are aquired. The old windows were part of the reason why the caboose was in as bad shape as it was. Water had been leaking into the wood behind the outer pannels through the windows, and had caused lots of rot.
This way, there is less space places for water to get inside the caboose, and besides, the pannel can be cut from the inside safely.
the end platforms admittedly was something i would have liked to have fixed in hindsight, but only the end opposite the hopper did we really have to use consistently. the other end I was only on a few times to do small work there, or to look into the bathrooms (the bathrooms are not connected to the rest of the caboose on the inside. weird).
as was the case with the windows though, not all the parts for the ends were available.
