Does anyone know of a (free) program, or a way that will convert .obj files to .3ds files?
Export to .3ds requires licensing. So I think that may kill chances of free .3ds output.
Finding a free version of old software may be the key. Programs like Truespace are sometimes released for free when they are outdated.
maybe give http://oldversion.com a try and see if they have any older piece of software as previously suggested...
I think Metasequoia opens OBJ and saves in 3DS.
An easy way is to get the latest copy of Blender2.65 .. it will import many differt files as well as .obj and save out as .3ds and it is FREEWARE!!!
