The edges of the wall strips are coloured before they are attached. And this is how it looks at the moment. A quick fit test showed that both halves of the casing really fit well together. However, the upper half seemed a bit too high. I corrected that.

The upper casing is attached. You may apply pressure from the inside till the glue has cured.

The outer covers need some cutouts for the hinges. I highly guess that the amount and location of the cuts depend on paper thickness and accuracy of assembly. Hence the parts will not feature these cutouts but I will add a note in the instructions. The holes for the antenna must be coloured black before the cover is attached.

The last step is attaching the top and bottom cover. Both parts have to be cut to shape after they have been glued to the case, the edges have to be painted. Et voilà, the casing is complete and opens and closes! :thumb:

One of the drawbacks of the design is that the outer cover has to be cut in two halves for printing. This leads to two seams which can't be hidden easily. Nevertheless I hope that the fun factor compensates for that because the FW doesn't only open and close but it also gets movable knobs. Stay tuned for more! ;-)

A beautiful work, RF, as usual. Simple and effective, but with huge attention to details.
The hinge solution was nice and noted!

Thank you! When I was assembling the case I noticed that the texture definitely has to be replaced by a better one (I took it from picture which was as big as a stamp to have something to work with). As soon as I have made one I'll print it on thin paper and glue it over the existing structure. ;-)

Aside from that I can assure you, THIS BUILD IS SO MUCH FUN!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

I have finally managed to make a decent texture for the casing. However, who says that a FW has to be brown only? I'll be preparing alternative parts for making a blue and a green FW.

That's exactly what I thought when I was tampering with the colour. I even would say it fits in the 1920s / 1930s era, too. I tested pastel tones, too, like amber and vanilla, but that didn't fit at all. I'm very pleased with the texture and I'm sure that every version will look great. :thumb:

You could wrap one in some prism sticker paper and have the Disco Ball '70s Farnsworth
