hi all, are kadee couplers electromagnetic? i'm new to model trains and I keep reading about how great kadees are, but I was thinking they just had nice action and manufacturing. are there any electromagnetic couplers for n scale that you can control with dcc?

    thx,
    Simon

i take it from looking around that micro-train couplers are the kadee of n scale. are these electro magnetic? i find it hard to believe that they could be considering the size of the units.

As I understand it (and I might be wrong) the electromagnets are mounted on the tracks and not the cars. The couplers have metal pieces that are uncoupled by the magnets where they are located on the track.

[IMG] I see. gotcha. that makes so much more sense than actually installing a bunch of electromagnets in all your cars!
