Doodlebug - Spectrum

I need some help here.

I bought a Spectrum Doodlebug undecorated and need
to remove body and window glass for painting. Will someone give me a step-by-step please.

It runs like a jack rabbit. Has anyone replaced the motor with a lower speed one? If so, which one and how?

All other suggestions welcome.

Ray, I can't unfortunately answer your question but chris333 who is a member here and several other forums I lurk is currently working on converting a dooddlebug for an interurban car he is kitbashing and may be able to answer your question. He is most active on railwire if you want to try him there.

I have had two of them apart but it was over a year ago and my memory is slightly faded concerning exactly how they came apart. But, I believe I removed the shell by sliding small pieces of cardboard between the shell and the frame focusing on areas about 1" back from both ends and gently prying and pulling. There are 4 "lugs" that keep the shell fixed to the frame. Wish I could be more definitive.
