For the week of 8-20-06

Very early Athearn bb SD40-2.In fact so early it is on record as being the very first one sold in my town. The hi-short hood is a Cannon piece and yes those ditchlites work.

Someday I will repaint the old girl and decal her in the current scheme.I also have an SD40-2 B unit in the works for far longer that I care to admit.:D

Don't forget the pic has to be your own.

Here's two shots of this SD40T-2 rounding the curve by Davidson Repair and Restoration...grabbed the camera just as the sun came out giving that Kodachrome its best chance to shine. This unit is new to these parts...but Davidson's Repair is well known for attracting all sorts of diesels from other lines - both old and new.

I love SD40s. Here is a couple of mine. I have about 15 SD40s. Three -2s. Eleven Tunnel Motors, including this Overland Models and a Rio Grande Key that I'll take a picture of later.

Wow, how literal! there's an http://www.sd40.com/ out there! :thumb: Did the C&NW own SD40T-2's I thought only SP and DRGW owned them, until UP gobbled... :(

Nah, they didn't but I was given the shell and well, you know, I just couldn't resist:eek:ops: !

BTW on that link to SD40 dot com you provided, Click on the 'James Matuska artwork'. Jim lives here in Lacrosse and is often commisioned to do work for BNSF and CP emloyees. His work also hangs in the Burger King in Janesville WI(near CNW, MILW, WSOR,UP) at five points. As well as other locations I've been in(does riverboats as well). He has a tremendous amount of great photos from years gone by shot at Grand Crossing. His son Andrew gave me the shell of the tunnel motor in my shot.

I can add to this thread, although out of my era, I have this photo of some visiting power. Custom painted brass, I think a model of a EL unit, right?
