A very sad day indeed.

I loved his portrayal of Superman. I always thought he was true to the comic character, more so than the TV version.

Sad to hear about this but it was not totally unexpected. But one has to admire his courage to face life square in the eye and spit in it.

Not all the actors to play superman have been cursed. Kirk Alyn who played Superman in the serials once had a young women who recongnized him on an airliner hand him a copy of Larry Niven's "Man of Steel, Women of Kleenex". Truely a hilarious take on the eternal question of just what would happen if Superman and Lois Lane were to become romantically involved. The essay can be found in Niven's N-Space.
