CSX Action In Marion(Oh)

    I took these photos Wednesday while railfanning in Marion..I meant to stay long enough to drink my daily cup off coffee but,ended up staying 6 hours[:O].It was a very busy day.

    Was that switcher (722?) running, or being towed?

    The 722 was being towed.

    Well,I plan on being in Marion next Sunday.I also plan on attending some of the early slide shows this fall..

    I might be able to arrange to be there still on Sunday of next. My Empire Builder slide show should be in October or maybe November.

    I haven't been to Marion in years... I guess CSX got the Conrail line in the split... is there much NS traffic there anymore?

    Whats in the station these days? Is the MRR club still there?

    NS is the busiest line in town with 40+ moves in 24 hours.

    The baggage room still houses the club's layout and a meeting room and the passenger waiting room is filled with various artifacts.

    It isn't a GP30 anymore. Look closer at how many fans, louvers and doors aren't there. (Okay, those may be hard to see. Try looking at the ex-GP35 2321 which is in the same condition.) It's a road slug. Among the Class 1s, only BNSF has powered GP30s left, and I don't think any of them still have 567 engines.
