Love your blacksmith. I've done some smithing myself and he rings true. Where do you come by your characters- or do you make them?
As to the lads up in the tree, I quote you one of my songs
" Men climbed above the buttress roots full twenty feet and more,
Bouncing around on a plank and spur to swing the axe and saw,
Tall the timber all in the mist and rain,
Cleared for the shack and the railway track,
Will we ever see its like again."
