Here is my latest creation in the home layout. The attached is only a portion - the operational part, of the entire layout. The local yard is a totally separate module and not really a concern.
This industrial layout will be built in modular format ie: 48x96 (2) for an over-all industrial switching layout of 4ft by 16ft.
I have accounted for the fact that I (like most) cannot reach across 4 ft, so the maximum reach that I have to deal with is 36 inches. The rest will be fill-in effects and a backdrop to add realism to the entire over-all layout.
On paper, the buildings and where I have selected the various loading/unloading ramps and roadways for vehicular traffic works out.
Looking for any comments on what I may have missed.
