Do you use new trucks or salvaged ones from old cars?

I understand you are an engineer, do you think you might give me some suggestions on my lay out.

I decided to circle the room and I will need a lift bridge at the door.

An idea of making the bridge would be helpfull before I start cutting wood. Trail and err isnt the best way to build.

Gil, try doing a search of both CTT and OGR, a few years back there was an artical on building a lift, or drop, bridge. The more I think about it I lean toward OGR.

N gauger - great link on your bridges. Gil - Buckeye Riviter is an expert on bridges, he builds them in real life for the RR. :thumb:

On the replacing trucks on cars. Sometimes I buy new trucks at shows or recycled ones. Most recently I have been buys cars for $10 to $15 that someone is blowing out. This is the price of the trucks and I still have a body to kitbash.

Just tried getting on to the CTT forum, it is slooooow. The header came up reasonably fast but then after, maybe, a minute + with nothing happening I jumped over here. Seems it just gets worse, can't handle the traffic.

Ran trains a bit yesterday afternoon. Was shuttling a Lionel log car up the mountain on the branch line with the 0-8-0 going in reverse and the car in tow, the curves are between O-27 and O-31, Gargraves track. The car would continually derail at one point. Seems its too light to pull the front engine coupler to the side. I've reduced the centering spring tension on the coupler in the past. Added some weight to bring the care up to standards to see if it'll help. I'll have to give it a try later, glue should be dry by now.
