Tonight (Friday Night) I'm hosting my first train meeting- YIPPEE, I'm so excited!

Normally we either work on somebodies layout, operate, make some trees or buffer stops (since you can't buy South African buffer stops) or meet at someones layout (One that's more for sitting back and viewing, rather than operating) and talk nonsence.

Since I don't have a layout and am still getting everything together, I'm going to be showing a DVD on Miniatur Wunderland- A layout in Hamburg, Germany. Can you believe that a layout can be a cities number one tourist attraction? It sort of reminds me of reading back issues of Model Railroader where the guy (like many others) started liking trains when he saw that Lionel Set in the department store over Christmas.

Good afternoon everybody,

Been a while since I logged on. Just too busy this time of year to keep up with the forums. Chief sent me an email reminding me I hadn't posted for a while. Will try to do better.

Take care,

Morning all. Off to Miss Edna's [Todd's Train Depot]. End of the Line is on FLIX West. Movie about two older train guys stealing engine and going to Chicago to Board Of Directors meeting to save the line.
John F has a great layout. Seen it in person. Some very outstanding scratch built scenery.

Pennman, did I miss something. SIL wounded??? Disabled??? Hats off to all serving in Iraq [a war that should not have been]. These soilders went any way and have done a great job. Those disabled deserve the highest salute and should be taken care of for life.

Hey Chief, yeah guess so,He got his right leg blown off!!:? The Army and all his men however, managed to re attach it now its just a waiting game to see what happens.

Been working on the trains and going strong on the layout.going to try and post some pics here soon. TILL THEN YALL HAVE FUN

Tony...Let's hope for the best...
I agree with the Chief. Veterans should be taken care of for life...The treatment they are getting nowadays is shameful.
Hope your son pulls through OK.

I got a big surprise today. I heard a knock at the door this morning and went to see who it was and I was so surprised I almost fell over. It was my young friend David, known at Trains.com as TrainMaster. Some months back, his father got a good job in Denver, the first good job he's had in his entire life. He and the family relocated there immediatly. Well, after a little while, David's mother started having some rather alarming medical problems show up and it was found that she was violently allergic to something in the area. It was suggested that she move back to Louisiana since she has friends and family here and hadn't had any problems until she left here. David decided to come back with her, being as he's only 13 he didn't have a lot of choice in the matter. I knew they were coming back but I wasn't expecting them for another month because the boy had to finish school. I only found out a little while ago that they said 'hang the school and move now, we'll worry about any problems with the schools later'. Right now they're all here, David, his mother and father. They have to get the rental truck unpacked today so that his father can start back to Denver in the morning. It won't be the first time they've been seperated and probably won't be the last.
