    Hello,
Today I start my new project.
It is a wonderful Cathedra De Santiago de Compostela.
The model belongs to the collection "GRANDES MONUMENTOS"
Model is in the graduation 1: 400
    length 305 mm
    width 345 mm
    Height - 175 mms

    HISTORIC REFERENCE

An important place since Roman times in the Spanish Peninsula,
thanks to its strategic position, Compostela plays a leading role throu-
ghout Europe from the X century onwards, with the news of the dis-
covery of the remains of the Apostle, St. James.
From then on, the boom in pilgrimages in the Christian kingdoms
provokes the movement of the faithful who flock from different parts
of Europe to Santiago de Compostela in search of the apostle's indul-
gences. This fact exceeds the religious limits to become a token of
first line cultural exchange in the continent.
Painting, sculptures, architecture and all the arts in general, are
influenced in the North of the Peninsula by the trends coming from
beyond the Pyrenees. The Cathedral of Santiago does not escape this
influence. Starting in the last third of the XI century, it develops its
primitive factory in Romanic style, of which it is perhaps the grandest
    exponent in our peninsula.
After a standstill in the construction works at the end of that cen-
tury, the building was restarted in the year 1100 under the mandate
of bishop Diego Gelmirez who, until his death in the year 1140, is
one of the most important sponsors to erect the temple.
The final dedication of the Cathedral takes place in the year 1211,
although the initial project would never be completed, and which
contemplated, among other features, the construction of 9 slender
    turrets.

With the best greetings to all
    Maria

Maria...your work on the various models you have built is wonderful. However, I can't help but wonder what happens to them once you finish one. You either have a very large display room in your house, of pass them on to places around town to show for you. Either way, they are still wonderful builds. And like an advertisement for a useless newspaper here in the U.S. of A. used to say, "Curious minds want to know."

    Hi Maria

How did you get the base board to be so flat.

    Great start.
