Hi all,

I can't seem to get enough scratchbuilding! This next project will be something a little different for me. It is not a heavy/chemical industry facility, but an old depot I found in Gaines MI. A friend thought it was a WWI era cannery, perhaps...

What's more, this will be my first attempt at "copying"

Anyhow, here is it's gatorboard skeleton;

...and here I've began to add siding.

I can post some progress pics along the way, if you'd like.

Hey Kyle,,,That's a pretty nice structure to cut your teeth in scratch building...and looks like you've got yourself a good start. Do keep posting your progress pics so we can see how you're coming along...

Good luck..!! :thumb:

P.D. - What's "Gatorboard"..?

Thanks guys, now if I could just win one of those stupid contests!

Here is the Gaines Cannery with siding, roofing and many details.

I think the sagging porch gives it some "character". I am torn between doing it in the proto red and gray, or dressing it up in white with a dark green roof.

Thoughts on the color scheme welcomed.

"Gatorboard" as I call it is that rigid posterboard with the 3/16" foam core.

Thanks for the kind words fellas, now if I could just win of those stupid contests.

That's lookin' awesome...!!! I like the sagging porch...I'm thinking of something similar for a kit I'm building...Kinda gives it a lived-in/abused look...Nice..!! :thumb:

Man that is looking good. I like the way you have made it look so much like the real one. going to be a nice building when you are done with it.

Canada, eh?
Looks good, Kyle, :thumb::thumb: and it's got some character, too! The green and white would've worked, too, but I like the colour you chose just fine.

And FINALLY.

Here she is on the layout. I had to freshen up the surrounding area of course... including the addition of U.S. Ice.
