    Hello fans,

I was watching the news on German television when suddenly a short report was shown on the original Galactica TV show from 1978. According to this report Universal Television and SyFy will bring back the original Battlestar Galactica TV show - with the original cast members! Dirk Benedict, Laurette Spang and Terry Carter will be back in their original roles! The new episodes will launch with a two-hour-special in October this year in conjunction with a series of other special treats celebrating the 40th anniversary of the show. Among this there will be an all-new 4k remastered BluRay release of TOS in the original 4:3 screen format. Universal hinted at the possibility to "do some major clean-up" to update the special effects, so maybe "Galactica" will receive the same treatment like TOS "Star Trek" did. Unfortunately they didn't say if both versions will be available or if it is just a limited edition. Anyway, this will be an exciting year! Stay tuned for updates on this, folks! So say we all!

For those in the US who get METV over-the-air, they also have the original Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek TOS on Saturdays.

It would be interesting, seeing all the exhumed cast members sitting in their chairs, with voices dubbed over, in their uniforms. It could be called "Battlestar Galactica: Entering the Macabre Space, where certain members all of a sudden are aged and seasoned dead, a last cameo appearance for the lost ones. ;)

That would make a hilarious special episode for Halloween. :)

Like, "Pirates of the Caribbean" meets "The Fighteners" and the Crypt Keeper.

Anyway, with today's technology to revive deceased actors everything should be possible. There is even an app to overlay your face with a corresponding face of another person; the facial expressions are copied and the result looks stunning. A fan re-made the Leia scene from "Rogue One" using that app and created an even more convincing young Princess Leia.

IMO a good compromise would be an animated version like "Rebels": not entirely photo-realistic and not too overly cartoonish. That way you could tell new stories involving the classic characters.

It would be an interesting take, especially for those who did not like the remake. I, for one,, really enjoyed the remake, and consider it far more thoughtful and original than the original ( sounds like a paradox), I guess I am just writing that I like they way it was executed. I even liked "Caprica", and thought it was cut way too short, not enough time to show how the Cylon awakening really happened. I actually think that we could not know if a conscious program (in the sense of emulating and rewriting itself) does not already exist. Such a program would be nearly impossible, if not completely impossible to find, as it would exist all or the world wide web. We may have already doomed ourselves, or, in fact, saved ourselves. No one really knows. ;)

Where do you think they got that from? The first code lines I wrote where in 1973. Most people had no idea what a computer was and I was using the "Intranet", as it was called back then. Mostly between Universities. There was no monitor, just very

fast printers, and huge reams of paper. We talked about "conscious" software back then, "Isaac Asimov's" "Positronic Brain" being a perfect example of the software and hardware realization. It's the "Terminator" that's derivative, not the

I give you another one: Without the "original" there would not have been the re-imagination. ;)

I can still remember the outrage the new series caused aongst the die-hard fans. Several of them and even critics meant the show did not necessarily have to be called "BSG" but should have gotten a completely own title because it was so different from TOS.

I agree; it was a shame not being able to show all the pieces come together. Thank Goodness they added that little teaser at the end of the last episode. It was enough to fill in the gaps between "Caprica" and BSG" and to show what we were supposed to expect. At least there was a visual outline of the overall story that would culminate in the first Cylon War.

If we were living in a Matrix-like universe it would be impossible for us to tell the difference because we are meant to believe what we are seeing. We don't know the difference, the World appears "as is". It would be like describing a two-dimensional being a three-dimensional world (see Gödel's incompleteness theorems). ;)
