Here are a few pix of the latest build at the Tractor Plant: a 1:35 version of ABC's BMP-1, featuring scratchbuilt interior and elevating gun.

A view into the troop compartment. Note to self: next time, build suspension before attaching side skirts......

The troop doors on the BMP-1 actually contained FUEL TANKS (go figure), and are both bulbous and prominent.The doors on this particular vehicle are layers of card laminated to 3/32 basswood, that has been carved to shape.

Sounds silly - but actually makes sense - diesel fuel is relatively non-volatile so
it can be used as a "liquid" armour. There have been a number of AFVs designed so the fuel tanks supplement the main armour.
