Has anyone out there modified a Bachmann vanderbilt tender (like the ones that come w/ the 4-8-4) for electrical pick-up. I'd like to use one on my Bmann Light mountain. The MP vandy tender is too small, so this is about it other than a Con cor. Unfortunatly, the 4-8-2 needs the electrical pickup to run well. Any help would be appriciated.

Could someone direct me to a source for the electrical pickup wipers or entire truck assemblies? I seem to be having a problem finding them.

Yes,

I did my own using .010 brass shim stock purchased from an auto supply store.

I cut the wipers and installed them on each of the 2 trucks making sure that each truck has the insulated side of the wheels all on the same side on each truck and then install the trucks so that each will be picking up the current from each rail.

There is an article on the web on doing this to the Bachmann N-Scale Northern and that is were I got the idea.

This a very easy conversion and makes this loco run super.

Richmond Controls offers a kit to install electrical pick up contacts if you are not versed in working with the shim stock.

I hope that this is of help, I will try and find the article.
