Atlas makes transition rail joiners for C100 to C83. They are Atlas #551.

A thin cardboard shim will work as well.Make it as wide as the track and the ballast will cover it.

If using the atlas rail joiners will i have to file the code 100 track to meet the code 83, and how does that cardboard shim work?

you won't have to file any track. the transition joiner is alittle higer on one side ( to mate with the code 83), and a little lower on the other side. the Ties are actualy taller on code 83, or so i've heard. they should match up
