Best W.S. ballast size for N scale ?

Woodland Scenics has 3 ballast size: coarse, medium and fine
Obviously, coarse is too big for N scale.
So what size is best suited for N scale: medium or fine ?

Fine is what came in the Scenic Ridge kit I'm building and it looks ok to me. I'll be sticking with it.

I used medium years ago and it didn't work at all. I have fine ballast now, and although I haven't used it, I can tell it will work out much better. It is still too large scale-wise, but it LOOKS right, which is what really matters.

Ya Fine ballast is the best for N Scale.

You could use medium and coarse ballasts for hills and other scenery though.

I just finished ballasting my track with Woodland Scenics fine ballast, very easy to work with and the results were very pleasing.:thumb:

Thanks to all the nice people who took some of their time to reply.
I had some medium type left from a HO diorama, and following your opinions I purchased some fine type
I did some ballast testing and I agree that the "fine" ballast type looks better.
Good idea TruckLover to use the medium type for hills.
