Well, on Kartonbau I found a tutorial for making canopies, and it uses ( I don't know the English word for it} the stuff that shrinks when you heat it,RC guys use it to wrap the bateries waterproof, it's a bit like Roberto's tutorial.
Here I filled the inside out canopy with polyester-putty ( There's a lot of it on my real car:grin: )

After a few attempts, I found out that the shape was to round to get it right in one piece, so I made one more section of the cockpit out of flat transparent and only the last bit of the shape, which was alright..
As you can see there 's a little scratch-build strecher in the back, like on the photo's of the original

If it's gonna fly, it needs a pilot, I 'borrowed' the seat and controlpanel from the XV-1..

There a few little flaws in the glass, but it 'll do, for the first time,
It works quiet good this way, and it makes sence that it does'nt work on shapes ,which are more than half a bowl, like canopies

Just a thought, this mould making is quiet a job, and now I'm finished with it it's of no use for me anymore..
There must be other guys doing this, we could start a "Mould Bank", making your mould available for the next guy(or girl) who needs it
This one is the first entry, so if somebody needs it....
    Cheers, Billy

Nice job, Billy!.....great to see you using the vacuform technique....I did the same on the U-60 that I'm currently building....though my first attempt had some flaws, and I used the "flawed glass" this on the model......you did an awsome job on your first attempt....it looks great!...kudos!!!:yep: ....Bob out....

Yeah me too! It would be great to do a vid and have it rotate slowly in a turn "hovering off the ground"!

    Billy,
This has been fun watching you build this unusual "bird"...I just love the metal paper....and combined with the vacuforming...this is most excellent!!! ....Bob out...

That's a really interesting model, Billy, and first rate job on the build! Can't wait to see it floating in the diorama!
